I like to dabble in a wide variety of forms, but short fiction holds a very special place in my heart. Here you'll be able to find a list of where my short fiction has published and where it is set to publish next.
Clicking on the story's title will take you to it (unless the magazine it published in still holds the rights). You'll also find links to the storefronts of the magazines they appear in.
An Occurrence at Guntersville, Alabama
Originally appearing in the April, 2008 edition of Why Vandalism?.
My first published work, this story centers around Huckleberry Finn as an old, retired Indian fighter.
I've always believed that Huck was ultimately a tragic figure, set apart from the society that would accept him by the truths he'd learned on the Mississippi, but still too roughly bred for the society that would understand. I envisioned a tired and beaten down man who'd long ago taken up the bottle his father had found solace in.
The story's available at Why Vandalism?.
Add Me
Originally published on March 1, 2009 at Microhorror.com.
Re-published in the June issue of Twisted Dreams Magazine.
Add Me is a twisted little gem of horror set in the weird microcosm that is social networking. It's flash fiction, so it's a quick read, but it's one that is genuinely creepy.
You can check it out at Microhorror.com, or pick it up in print from Twisted Dreams Magazine.
A Better Place
Originally published in Issue 13 of Twisted Tongue Magazine.
A Better Place takes you deep into a demented world of ever changing realities. It's the story of a man who's never quite sure who he is or what his world is going to become next. Through each new insanity he encounters, he races desperately to unlock the secret of what his life's become, before it's too late.
You can pick it up in print from Twisted Tongue Magazine.
How Far Can This Go?
Originally published in the premiere issue of Sex and Murder Magazine.
This is the story that prompted me to start Sex and Murder Magazine. I received a good number of rejections while trying to place it and a common reason seemed to come with each one. Time and again I was told that while it is a great piece, it's just too extreme, too experimental. Hearing that, over and over, made me realize that their needed to be a magazine for horror that's too extreme for others.
So, I started Sex and Murder Magazine (named for my first novel) and included How Far Can This Go? in the inaugural issue.
You can pick it up in print, ebook formats, or read it online at Sex and Murder Magazine.
